SUMMARY:43rd Annual Beirut Memorial Observance Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Each year\, a Remembrance Observance takes place on October 23 at the Beirut Memorial to remember those who gave the greatest sacrifice for their country. It’s a solemn tribute to 273 Marines who gave the last full measure of devotion in Lebanon and Grenada on October 23\, 1983. The names of each man are engraved in granite along with the words “They Came In Peace.” Set in a wooded site with beautiful landscaping\, the memorial is a fitting tribute to our military men and women who answer the call everyday without regard to personal safety.

It’s about finding purpose again: a mission to belong to\, a team to be part of\, and a sense that their skills still matter. Meaningful employment supports financial stability\, but it also strengthens confidence\, connection\, and overall wellbeing. When the right role is found early\, it becomes the foundation for a career that can grow for years to come. \nThat belief is at the heart of our next event. North Carolina for Military Employment (NC4ME) is partnering with the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (NC DMVA) to host the NC4ME Hiring Event on Wednesday\, October 28\, 2026\, at UNC Wilmington\, the final stop of the NC DMVA Roadshow. \nThis isn’t a typical job fair. Each candidate is prescreened and thoughtfully matched with roles that fit their skills\, experience\, and goals\, then booked for pre-scheduled interviews with North Carolina employers who are ready to hire. The focus is on the right fit\, not just any fit\, so candidates can step into work that supports both their families today and their careers tomorrow.
